Noel flynn Gallery & Frame Factory frames has 23 years of experience framing and stretching oil paintings on canvas. When framing oil paintings, it is very important to select a suitable frame treatment. Many of the examples seen on this page are what are known as stacked frame designs, which means one frame is inside a much larger frame. There is even a triple stacked frame here too. The concept behind frame stacking is the same for matting, and that is that a separation is necessary between the frame and artwork. the frame must have a "break" or "transition" in it to separate it frome the art. This can be achieve on of three ways. First, with a mat or liner, second, with another frame, and third with a frame that already has a built in transitional element in it's design.
